Britain´s Best Football Fans Chant

… is particularly bad.

Considering he wrote and sang the best footballing rap of all time, John Barnes has selected a real stinker when being asked to judge Britain´s best football chant.

Barnes´Anfield Crap went on to help Liverpool lose the 1988 FA Cup final, and now he´s been asked to vote for the government backed ‘Get On’ competition, where football fans from hundreds of clubs sent in their chants that they’d written themselves.

The winner of the competition was a true genius from Essex, who wrote about Southend´s Dougie Freedman set to the tune of The Wombles…. it went something like this :

“Underground, overground signed on a free,
He’s Dougie Freedman of S.U.F.C.
Scores goals for fun, he’s blue through and through,
Better watch out ‘cos he’ll score against you.”

Yeah, nice one Barnesy – look forward to the Roots Hall faithful singing along.
